About This Item
Full Description
Note: Nothing in this standard supercedes applicable laws and regulations.
Note: In the event of conflict between the English and domestic language, the English language shall take precedence.
Purpose/Material Description.
Two-component, meter-mixed polyurethane elastomers (PUE) which can be applied at varying thicknesses across an area to create a sound barrier. The elastomer is typically filled with barytes or other fillers with high specific-gravities to yield a high-mass layer. Low-density polyurethane foam may then be applied via injection (backfoamed) in order to fabricate a decoupler. Materials should be homogenous and free of voids for maximum acoustic performance. For low-density polyurethane foam for acoustic, decoupler, or dampener backfoamed applications, etc., refer to GMW15065.
Materials intended to be used in substrate applications should also meet the assembly performance requirements per GMW14444 as assembled.
Symbols.
Not applicable.
Applicability.
Any noise and vibration application where a variable thickness barrier is required.
Remarks.
This specification details the requirements of a two-component sprayable polyurethane sound barrier material that can be used for front of dash applications or other applications where a barrier material or barrier-decoupler assembly is required.
