About This Item
Full Description
Absorption refrigerating machines have a history whichextends back into the 18th century; much effort has beenspent in developing them to their present state. Much ofthis effort has been concerned with the design of thephysical machine and with such objectives as long life, reliability, low cost, etc.; but a great deal of the work hasbeen aimed at improving the performance. The purpose ofthis paper is to consider methods for improving theperformance of the absorption machine; more specifically, this paper will be concerned primarily with improving theperformance by means of an "absorber heat exchanger."This heat exchanger takes some of the heat of absorptionwhich is normally dissipated and returns it to the generatorto yield a significant increase in the coefficient ofperformance.
