Full Description
Stationary gas turbines used in industrial applicationscan be run using premixed fuel/air systems. Though premixedfuel/air systems are widely established, research continues tofurther develop the efficiency of such engines. This paper usescomputer numerical simulation to analyze the effects of thepremixed fuel/air composition on the performance of a miniaturegas turbine. The composition of the fuel/air premixturewas varied and results were recorded and compared. Effects onturbulence intensity in the combustion zone for variouspremixed fuel/air compositions were monitored andcompared. The analysis has shown that performance can beoptimized with an optimal fuel/air premixture, and that thisoptimal performance coincides with peak turbulence intensityat the combustion chamber downstream of the premixed fuel/air injectors.
