About This Item

Full Description

This method determines the relationship between the length and mass of the yarn being tested, using SI Units. The SI derived unit is the tex, which is defined as the mass in grams per kilometre. Multiples or submultiples of the tex may be used, as appropriate.

The linear density may be affected by dyeing, by the presence of finishes, shrinkage or stretch, sizing, etc. The value determined by this method will refer only to the yarn in the condition in which it is tested.
