This seminar explores one side effect of decarbonization, a reduced emphasis on energy efficiency. A myopic view on decarbonization in general drives the view that all electrification solutions in general are equivalent, at the potential expense of both scale and efficiency. This in-turn drives risks with electrification operating costs, electric infrastructure, resiliency and associated expenditures to individual businesses and homeowners. This conundrum is explored through the lens of equipment utilization and applications aiming to provide context to appropriate decision making with respect to equipment selection, system scale, energy sources and use that both reduce energy use and decarbonize.
