PURPOSE AND SCOPE

This business procedure specifies the requirements for the management of drawings when work is undertaken by a construction Alliance in relation to National Grid owned UK transmission (electricity) assets.

As the owner and operator of electricity transmission assets, National Grid has specific duties and statutory obligations with respect to the provision, design, construction, operation and maintenance of its transmission plant and systems. In order to satisfy these obligations, and as a safe, prudent, efficient and competent operator, National Grid’s policy is to produce and maintain appropriate drawing records associated with its electricity transmission assets. It is therefore a mandatory requirement that the requirements of this procedure are fully complied with by any party that undertakes work which also impacts on the drawing(s) associated with these assets, irrespective of whether such assets are new or already in existence. Accordingly, National Grid will monitor compliance with this procedure and apply relevant sanctions if required.

The following subjects are included within the scope of this document; electronic master drawings, site held hard copy drawings, site management of Construction Drawings, and Operation & Maintenance manuals.
