Full Description
This standard provides design requirements and guidelines to be used for the determination of loads and site conditions for onshore and offshore wind turbines.
This standard gives requirements for the following:
— design principles and methods, see Sec.2
— definition and derivation of external conditions, see Sec.3
— setup and application of load calculation models, see Sec.4 and Sec.5
— standard design load cases, see Sec.6 and Sec.8
— extended design load cases, see Sec.7 and Sec.9
— loads post-processing, see Sec.10
— load validation, see Sec.11.
This standard is in compliance with IEC 61400-1 Ed. 4 and IEC 61400-3-1 Ed. 1 and complements their content. It is not intended to duplicate aspects covered in these IEC standards. This standard should thereby be applied in combination with these IEC standards and the other DNV standards (DNV-ST) listed in Table 1-2. DNV recommended practices (DNV-RP) may be utilized to cover specific requirements outlined in this standard.
Guidance note 1:
Even though this standard is in compliance with IEC 61400-1 Ed. 4, some considerations from IEC 61400-1 Ed. 3 are still valid and clearly referenced in this standard.

Guidance note 2:
This standard addresses relevant site conditions for wind turbines, while some environmental conditions are described in detail, others may require further references to be fully assessed, this is the case for example for soil conditions, see [3.12] or seismic conditions, see [3.13].
