Full Description

Testing conducted at water utilities in California in the late 1990s concluded that the Lead and Copper Rule (LCR) may have incorrectly identified the main sources of lead and copper in tap water as well as which sources are "high risk". According to the findings of this study, brass corrosion appears to be the main source of both lead and copper in current monitoring samples. This paper provides one method for identifying the source of corrosion byproducts in consumers' tap water. Includes 21 references, tables, figures.
