Full Description

This paper presents a water operation scheduling system for supplying drinking water to a widespread area. The schedule should be provided to operators as on-line information because the state of water facilities such as the water level changes in real time. In a widespread area, the problem of providing on-line information is that it is difficult to calculate the schedule at high-speed, since the calculation time for the schedule heavily depends on the number of water facilities. For high-speed calculation, this paper proposes an optimization method using an improved Genetic Algorithm (GA) based on the mechanics of natural genetic evolution. Numerical experiments show the effectiveness of the proposed system from various viewpoints, including calculation time and efficient water operation. The proposed system has been introduced into a water purification plant for a widespread area having a population of 100,000. Includes 3 references, tables, figures.
