About This Item

Full Description

The Cheng Ching Lake Water Works treatment facility in southern Taiwan experienced customer complaints about hardness and tastes and odors in the finished water. Although the facility used conventional treatment methods, customers continued to complain. To remedy the situation, the authors studied treatment methods to complement the existing conventional treatment processes. Treatments studied included ozone, granular activated carbon (GAC), softening, and membrane processing. The best water quality was obtained with an integrated membrane treatment process. Results of the study also showed that avoiding prechlorination significantly improved the biostability of finished water. Includes 19 references, tables, figures.
