About This Item

Full Description

Computer modeling has long been touted as a cost-effective tool with which to study distribution systems for master planning, system deficiency analysis, and other such activities. This article demonstrates full-scale applications of computer modeling to ensure regulatory compliance with disinfection byproduct levels and optimize drinking water distribution system water quality. In addition, computer modeling was used to predict the effects of water utility operations and water treatment processes on distribution system water quality, thus allowing utilities to examine multiple operational changes safely and efficiently before pilot-scale testing or full-scale implementation. Includes 3 references, table, figures.
