Application

This chapter contains overall requirements common for machinery, systems and components. Detailed requirements are given in Ch.2 to Ch.12.

The requirements in this chapter apply to machinery and systems for the assignment of class notation 1A LC and 1A HSLC.

Compliance with the rules is required for installations and equipment necessary for performing of the main functions given in DNVGL-RU-SHIP Pt.1 Ch.1 Sec.1 Table 2.

The rules give system requirements and prescribe minimum requirements for materials, design, manufacture, inspection and testing.

The International Code of Safety for High-Speed Craft (2000 HSC Code) shall be regarded as guidelines for performance of high speed light craft and basic assumptions for the HSLC rule requirements. The parts of the Code listed in [1.1.6] and [1.1.7] are the parts applicable to machinery and auxiliary systems.

2000 HSC Code Chapter 9 - Machinery as applicable to:

— machinery in general (2000 HSC Code 9.1) is quoted in [1.2]

— requirements for passenger craft (2000 HSC Code 9.7 and 9.8) are quoted in Pt.5 Ch.1 Sec.5

— requirements for cargo craft (2000 HSC Code 9.9) are quoted in Pt.5 Ch.3

— engines in general (2000 HSC Code 9.2)

— diesel engines for main propulsion and essential auxiliaries (2000 HSC Code 9.4)

— gas turbines (2000 HSC Code 9.3)

— transmissions (2000 HSC Code 9.5)

— propulsion devices

2000 HSC Code Chapter 10 - Auxiliary systems as applicable to:

— auxiliary systems in general (2000 HSC Code 10.1) is quoted in [1.3]

— bilge pumping and draining systems, general (2000 HSC Code 10.3) is quoted in Ch.6 Sec.4

— bilge pumping and draining systems, passenger craft, (2000 HSC Code 10.9) is quoted in Pt.5 Ch.1 Sec.5 [2]

— bilge pumping and draining systems, cargo craft, (2000 HSC Code 10.10) is quoted in Pt.5 Ch.3 Sec.4 [2.2]

— ballast systems (2000 HSC Code 10.4) is quoted in Ch.6 Sec.5

— cooling systems (2000 HSC Code 10.5) is quoted in Ch.6 Sec.5

— engine air intake systems (2000 HSC Code 10.6) is quoted in Ch.6 Sec.5

— ventilation systems (2000 HSC Code 10.7) is quoted in Ch.6 Sec.5

— exhaust systems (2000 HSC Code 10.8) is quoted in Ch.6 Sec.5.

2000 HSC Code Chapter 7 - Fire Safety as applicable to:

— fuel and other flammable fluid tanks systems (2000 HSC Code 7.5.3 - 7.5.6) is not included, but similar requirements may be found in Ch.6 Sec.5.

For components to be installed onboard vessels with the additional class notation Naval, additional requirements given in Pt.5 Ch.8 shall be fulfilled.
