About This Item

Full Description

At 16 stories, the new campus building at the Universite de Sherbrooke, Longueuil, QC, Canada, is one of the tallest structures on Montreal's South Shore. Geothermal energy is rarely used in urban areas, but designers took advantage of the renewable energy source available in an adjacent municipal lot. The building reduces energy consumption by 46percent, compared to an equivalent building built with standard HVAC systems, saving more than $250,000 per year.
