About This Item

Full Description

The objective of this study was to quantify the effects of total organic carbon (TOC) removal on preoxidation optimization comparing coagulant doses that are geared towards turbidity removal versus those geared towards TOC removal. The measure of performance optimization will be the formation of disinfection byproducts (DBPs). A bench-scale jar testing apparatus with jar lids (to minimize DBP losses) was used in all experiments. Experiments for this study used two waters: a local Boulder, Colorado water source (Boulder Reservoir), and an Ohio water source (Mt. Orab). A preoxidation matrix was performed for each coagulant dose on both the selected waters. Includes 7 references, tables, figures.
