Solid phase microextraction (SPME) is a convenient extraction technique for analyzing a variety of analytes in a variety of matrices. This technique extracts analytes from samples through partitioning into a coated fiber. The uniqueness of this technique is the capability to retract and expose the fiber and can be used to sample a variety of food and beverage products. The fibers can be used on both liquid and solid samples and can extract both volatile and semivolatile analytes.
