About This Item

Full Description

This standard applies to two types of diesel fuel, Type A-LS and Type B-LS, suitable for use in high-speed diesel engines that require low-sulphur diesel fuel to meet emission control regulations. These engines generally operate at speeds in excess of 1200 r/min.

Both types of this fuel may be used in all high-speed diesel-powered equipment. (Fuel used in on-road (also called on-highway) diesel-powered equipment is regulated by various authorities (Appendix B).)

Type A-LS is intended for use in urban transit buses and passenger automobiles or when ambient temperatures require better low-temperature properties than Type B-LS has.

Type B-LS is intended for use in engines in services involving relatively high loads as found in industrial and heavy mobile equipment, such as intercity trucks and construction equipment, and when ambient temperatures and fuel storage conditions allow use of such fuel.

The testing and evaluation of a product against this standard may require the use of materials and/or equipment that could be hazardous. This document does not purport to address all the safety aspects associated with its use. Anyone using this standard has the responsibility to consult the appropriate authorities and to establish appropriate health and safety practices in conjunction with any applicable regulatory requirements prior to its use.
