Full Description

CSA Preface

This is the second edition of CSA E60598-2-3, Luminaires — Part 2-3: Particular requirements — Luminaires for road and street lighting, which is an adoption, with Canadian deviations, of the identically titled IEC (International Electrotechnical Commission) Standard 60598-2-3 (edition 3:2002 consolidated with Amendment 1:2011). It supersedes the previous edition, published in 1998 as CAN/CSA-E56098-2-3 (adopted IEC 598-2-3:1993). For brevity, this Standard will be referred to as “CSA E60598-2-3” throughout. The major differences between this edition and the previous edition include

• an update to the scope;

• additional references; and

• additional requirements for inspection of supply wiring after installation.

This Standard is intended to be used in conjunction with CSA E60598-1:23, Luminaires — Part 1: General requirements and tests (adopted IEC 60598-1:2020, with Canadian deviations). This Standard is considered suitable for use for conformity assessment within the stated scope of the Standard. This Standard was reviewed for Canadian adoption by the CSA Integrated Committee on Lighting Products, under the jurisdiction of the CSA Technical Committee on International Standards and the CSA Strategic Steering Committee on Requirements for Electrical Safety, and has been formally approved by the Technical Committee. This Standard has been developed in compliance with Standards Council of Canada requirements for National Standards of Canada. It has been published as a National Standard of Canada by CSA Group.

Scope

This part of IEC 60598 specifies requirements for − luminaires for road, street lighting and other public outdoor lighting applications; − tunnel lighting; − column-integrated luminaires with a minimum total height above normal ground level of 2,5 m; and for use with electrical lighting sources on supply voltages not exceeding 1 000 V.

NOTE Column integrated luminaires with a total height below 2,5 m are under consideration.
