This is the first edition of CSA B128.1/B128.2, Design and installation of non-potable water systems/ Maintenance and field testing of non-potable water systems.

This Standard has been developed in compliance with Standards Council of Canada requirements for National Standards of Canada. It has been published as a National Standard of Canada by CSA Group.

B128.1:06 - Design and installation of non-potable water systems

Scope:

1.1
This Standard specifies requirements for the design and installation of non-potable water systems for applications such as flushing toilets, irrigating lawns and gardens, washing automobiles, showering, bathing, washing clothes, or heating and cooling.

1.2
This Standard does not cover
(a) the quality of the non-potable water;
(b) maintenance and field testing of non-potable water systems after the initial installation; or
(c) non-potable water systems for industrial or manufacturing processes.

Maintenance and field-testing requirements are covered in CSA B128.2.

1.3
This Standard does not cover and does not preclude further treatment of non-potable water to potable standards.

In CSA Standards, "shall" is used to express a requirement, i.e., a provision that the user is obliged to satisfy in order to comply with the standard; "should" is used to express a recommendation or that which is advised but not required; "may" is used to express an option or that which is permissible within the limits of the standard; and "can" is used to express possibility or capability. Notes accompanying clauses do not include requirements or alternative requirements; the purpose of a note accompanying a clause is to separate from the text explanatory or informative material. Notes to tables and figures are considered part of the table or figure and may be written as requirements. Scope:

This Standard does not include requirements for the design and installation of non-potable water systems. These requirements are covered in CSA B128.1.
