About This Item

Full Description

ESDU 13007 considers the turning forces on tyres of aircraft and ground-test vehicles, to enable the calculation of minimum manoeuvre speeds on the ground and to aid in assessing vehicle steering capabilities. Data are considered from tests on concrete runways with freely-rolling yawed wheels for a range of Type VII (bias ply) aircraft tyres, one Type VIII (radial-ply) aircraft tyre, and a specialised tyre for a ground-test vehicle. Surface conditions accounted for in the modelling range from dry, through damp, to flooded. Speeds up to 110 knot are covered whilst yaw angles up to 30 degrees were tested and are modelled with adequate precision.
