ESDU 94002 tabulates density and molar volume for 20 compounds in units of kg/cu m and cu cm/mol respectively from near the melting point to about 0.9 of the critical point (although for some compounds the data go up to the critical point). The temperature interval is usually 5 K, although for a few compounds it is varied to keep the increments in density small. The critical density was calculated using the Rackett and Riedel equations and values of critical pressure and temperature adjusted until predictions from the two equations were in agreement. The choice of values was also influenced by achieving an optimum correlation for the vapour pressure data provided for these compounds in ESDU 94001. Experimental data for density for each compound were taken from sources in the literature, but were limited to medium reduced temperatures and so were fitted for each compound by the correlation obtained for the alkanes. The equation used relates log reduced density to a polynomial function of reduced temperature. Values for the coefficients in the equation are tabulated for each compound together with estimates of the accuracy of the predictions using them and a list of the sources of data used. Values at the critical point are also given together with normal boiling and melting points.
