Full Description

(Scanned original: to be superseded.)

ESDU 95005 tabulates density and molar volume for 10 C3 to C8 monoalkyl ethers (6 cellosolves and 4 carbitols) and 6 C4 to C10 dialkyl ethers (2 cellosolves, 2 carbitols, triglyme and tetraglyme) in units of kg/cu m at 5 degree C intervals and cu cm/mol at 5 K intervals from near the melting point to the critical point except for a few compounds for which the correlation is terminated at about 0.95 critical. A further table gives at specified Celsius temperatures the density, molar volume and their derivatives with respect to temperature. The critical density was calculated using the Rackett equation and values of critical pressure and temperature were adjusted until an optimum correlation was obtained for critical values from the vapour pressure data provided for these compounds in ESDU 95004 and the density data given here. The equation used relates log reduced density to a polynomial function of reduced temperature. Values for the coefficients in the equation are tabulated for each compound together with estimates of the accuracy of the predictions using them and a list of the sources of data used. Values at the critical point are also given together with normal boiling and melting points.
