This Technical Memorandum is an analysis of the application of a modified version of the method of ESDU TM 202, entitled ‘ESDU tyre modelling – rubber block forces’, to data reported in NACA Technical Note TN 3294.

In the experiments the normal load was applied to specimens of tyre rubber was accomplished either by using a small machine which was used to apply normal loads up to 700 lbf, or a larger machine that applied normal stresses up to 1000 psi. Three surfaces constructed of Portland Cement Concrete were used.

The modified ESDU model is shown to be valid for bearing pressures that cover the range of practical aircraft operations.
