FOREWORD

This document was prepared jointly by EUROCAE Working Group 14 "Environment" and RTCA SC-135 "Environment", and was approved by the Council of EUROCAE on 15 January 2015.

EUROCAE is an international non-profit making organisation in Europe. Membership is open to manufacturers and users of equipment for aeronautics, trade associations, national civil aviation administrations, and, under certain conditions, non-European organisations. Its work programme is principally directed to the preparation of performance specifications and guidance documents for civil aviation equipment, for adoption and use at European and world-wide levels.

The findings of EUROCAE are resolved after discussion amongst Members of EUROCAE and in collaboration with RTCA Inc, Washington D.C., and/or the Society of Automotive Engineers (SAE), Warrendale PA, U.S.A., through their appropriate committees.

This document is technically identical to RTCA DO-357.

EUROCAE performance specifications and other documents are recommendations only. EUROCAE is not an official body of the European Governments. Its recommendations are valid as statements of official policy only when adopted by a particular government or conference of governments.

PURPOSE AND APPLICABILITY

The purpose of this document is to provide users of ED-14G/DO-160G additional background information for the associated test procedures and requirements in ED-14G/DO-160G. This information includes rationale for requirements, guidance in applying the requirements, commentary, possible trouble shooting techniques, and lessons learned from laboratory experience. This User Guide is provided for guidance purposes and does not contain requirements. This information is intended to help users understand the objective and rationale behind the requirements, and to help users develop detailed test procedures based on the general test procedures in this document. It is highly recommended that detailed discussion will take place between the equipment manufacturer and the equipment installer during the development of the test plan.

Note that the User Guide subsections are numbered independently of the subsections in ED-14G/DO-160G.

ED-234/DO-357 replaces the User Guides previously included in ED-14G/DO-160G.

ED-14G Change 1/DO-160G Change 1 has been published to remove all User Guides previously included in ED-14G/DO-160G.
