Full Description

ENGLISH/KOREAN

This standard provides a convenient means of specifying color identification of metric parts when it is determined that normal part number identification may not adequately insure against mixing of so-called "metric parts" with look-alike "inch parts". It establishes one color, blue(*), as the standard identifier for use with the following finishes: phosphate and oil, phosphate and paint, zinc, cadmium, dichromated zinc, dichromated cadmium, and plain.

Note to user

A typical reference on engineering drawings is ---

COLOR IDENTIFY PER EDS-T-7686

This statement is intended to be shown as a supplement to the normal finish call-out, and may be easily deleted from the drawing when the need for supplemental identification no longer exists. It should not be used as a supplement to finishes such as chromium-bright, bright zinc, and colors which are specified for the purpose of achieving a desired appearance.

Note to user:

For assemblies which include parts which are color identified, it is normally not necessary to specify additional identification (i.e. blue clinch nuts in a bracket adequately identify both the nuts and the bracket assembly). If, however, due to subsequent processing (such as welding or finishing) color is lost, it may be desirable to specify how and where identification shall be supplied. Spot or partial color identification is generally preferred to complete coverage of assemblies and large parts. It is recommended that this be specified by expansion of the typical reference shown in l.l; example:

COLOR IDENTIFY PER EDS-T-7686 ; ONE SPOT

APPROX. 10 mm DIA AT LOCATION SHOWN
