This specification covers high performance composite bearing materials consisting of a steel backing plate, having a sintered bronze layer which is impregnated with a polytetrafluoroethylene (PTFE) - lead/lead oxide mixture. These composite bearing materials have a useful temperature range of from -200 to +280 C.
