This specification describes disposable film used to protect interior automobile trim, seats, doors and carpet. The type shall be indicated on the part drawing in addition to the specification number (i.e. GM2152M Type I).

TYPE I. A high tear film to be utilized as seat or door protection during shipments. It must be clear so as to identify color and material thorough it. This type may also have high friction material coextruded with it where specified

TYPE II. A film for use as a carpet protector. May be single-ply, multi-layered or tri-laminate but must meet the physical criteria of this specification. It may contain an antistatic additive and/or an anti-skid surface.

TYPE III. A low tear film to be utilized as seat protection during shipment. It must be clear so as to identify color and material through it.

TYPE IV. A slip differential, 3-ply, 25% min post consumer content containing material, non-opaque, polyethylene film typically utilized as a seat protector. The 3-ply shall consist of:

Layer A: Outside layer with slip characteristics.

Layer B: Center layer containing post consumer materials.

Layer C: Inner layer with grip characteristics.

Due to post consumer content this type of film may exhibit a slight color and odor.

The slip differential surfaces are intended to eliminate the need for elastic, string, etc., attachment methods. The outside layer is intended to allow the driver to slip across it and the inside layer is intended to grip the seat.

SW SUFFIX. This suffix is used to indicate that the material must be able to be shrink wrapped. Materials that contain an SW suffix must meet the requirements of of this specification. Where applicable, the suffix shall be indicated on the part drawing in addition to the specification number and type (i.e. GM2152M Type I-SW).
