1 SCOPE.

1.1 This document describes a measurement procedure, methods of detection, and allowable levels of radiated emissions from electrical and electronic components. Applications for electrical/electronic components in the vehicle are growing rapidly. Along with our present entertainment and citizens band radios, communications radios with operating frequencies in and above the Land Mobile VHF (30 - 174 MHz) and UHF (450 - 512 MHz) bands have also found increased application in the vehicle. (See Appendix A for detailed list of authorized communication services.). The process and design improvements made in RF communications equipment have significantly improved the signal-to-noise ratio and sensitivity capabilities of this type of equipment. These conditions have made it necessary to develop this procedure, which can be used by GM Allied and non-Allied suppliers.
