Full Description

Advances in desktop persona/computer technology and software packages are allowing direct digital control (DDC) suppliers to document their systems in a manner that will lead to a greater acceptance of DDC systems as they become easier to use.

In this paper we shaft examine how users can now select advanced building control systems that have the operation and maintenance (O&M) manuals integrated into the PC used as the system supervisor. Through the use of color schematics and text pages, combined with live information from the controllers, the O&M manuals come to life on the computer screen.

Using standard software packages, transfer of information is radically altered. The control suppfier can overlay information on the drawings and control specifications supplied by the architect and consultant as disk files. Once installed, the end user can easily update the information as the system evolves. There is no reason why drawings and the supervisor displays should be out of date
