DNV DNV-RU-SHIPS PART 1 CHAPTER 1 [ Revised ]

General The present edition of the rules includes amendments and additions approved by the Executive Committee as of June 2011 and supersedes the January 2010 edition of the same chapter.

The rule changes come into force as described below.

Text affected by the main rule changes is highlighted in red colour in the electronic pdf version. However, where the changes involve a whole chapter, section or sub-section, only the title may be in red colour.

This chapter is valid until superseded by a revised chapter.

Main changes coming into force 1 July 2011

• Sec.1 Classification Principles

— Modified text in Guidance note in item B606.

— Table B1 Disclosure of Information has been amended to allow for the access to “Final approved technical documents” and requirements for Port state authority/Coastal state authority. In addition, amendments have been made regarding access to correspondence.

— B806 has been amended.

• Sec.3 Retention of Class

— Added “affecting classification” in item B302.

— Added “If the class certificate has expired at the time of renewal survey completion, new certificate should be issued” at the end of item C102.

• Sec.5 Legal Provisions

— Item A201 regarding restricted use of the rules has been amended.

Corrections and Clarifications

In addition to the above stated rule requirements, a number of corrections and clarifications have been made to the existing rule text.
