This is the 23rd edition of the IATA Perishable Cargo Regulations (PCR), an industry recognized standard for the efficient and adequate shipping of perishable goods. It will be effective from 1st January 2024 to 31st December 2024. Cargo handlers and operator staff will need to be made aware of special handling requirements at the time when shipments are being planned, ideally through standard operating procedures and service level agreements. That is way in advance of their reservation with the operator.

The Perishable Cargo Regulations prescribe the detailed requirements and recommendations applicable for the air transport of perishable goods.

In response to the pharmaceutical industry's need and request for a standalone regulation, the Temperature Control Regulations (TCR) has been established as its own specialized publication. All content related to the handling of pharmaceuticals has been extracted from the PCR into the standalone TCR.
