Building codes, standards, regulations and guidelines form the basic foundation for design, construction and for effective post-construction operations and maintenance. Without proper understanding and application of codes and standards, buildings would be inundated with unsystematic design, inefficient system and unsafe conditions with regards to comfort, health and IEQ. There is ample evidence that strong and well-enforced building codes can and do save lives, reduce property damage, and improve health and productivity of occupants.
