Full Description

CANC NO S/S

This section of the document provides general guidance for the development of workspaces. A workspace is considered as the complete working environment in which all operators and equipment are arranged to function as a unit. The unit could be a static or mobile land, sea or air system.

In terms of the human operator anthropometry is discussed, outlining the physical limitations of people within the workplace and workspace envelope. The reader is also referred to Section 9, Body Size of this document. Also included are general considerations associated with working positions and postures within the operational environment. Much of the available data is specific to certain types of workplace, and could be quite different from those pertaining to vehicle or static consoles. (It is strongly recommended that, in layouts of any degree of complexity, a Human Factors specialist suitably qualified in military ergonomics should be consulted.)
