About This Item

Full Description

This document describes the requirements for setting up and maintaining a CM System for In- Service and new-build surface ships that will ensure coherency of In-Service support derived from CM data.

The product in the context of this document is the platform comprising multiple equipment, i.e. this document describes the CM principles that enable a collection of configurations brought together to establish a collective configuration of the platform as a whole.

This document defines the requirements for establishing and maintaining the Configuration Baseline [Ship Fit Definition (SFD)] based on information classified as the Class Datum Pack (CDP), which is a subset of Engineering Information (EI) produced to design, build, operate, maintain and dispose of a platform. See figure 1.

The principle of this standard applies to those projects / surface ships covered under Common Support Model, Contracting for Availability (CFA) and Contractor Logistic Support (CLS).

The principles and requirements in this document apply to both Legacy Supported platforms and Digital Supported platforms. (See clause 4.2.1). It is recognised however that there will be differences as to how these will be implemented for each Class, to achieve the required outcomes. These variances will be captured within a Class-specific Configuration Management Plan (CMP). See clause 5.3.

This document does not cover the procedures and processes used for the production and publication of platform support products, i.e. the Support Information (SI), derived from CM data.

Though a sub-set of the Datum Pack will inform the content of the Ship Information Pack, this document does not define the full content of the Ship Information Pack (SIP) which is the support information provided to ship staff on-board a platform. This information is still being developed.
