The Energy Independence and Security Act of 2007 requires DOE to issue revised Federal building energy efficiency performance standards that specify a 55% reduction in fossil fuel-generated energy consumption in new and renovated federal buildings immediately and complete elimination of fossil fuel-generated energy consumption by 2030.
