This slide presentation outlines a study on the status and research needs of main break models. The presentation begins with a review of main break modeling that includes research on main break prediction, and then lists results of a utility survey. Findings of modeling main breaks are listed. The presentation highlights Rogers' 2006 study that developed an approach based on frequency of breaks, and used a performance-based approach to estimate the present and future state of pipe segment from maintenance data.
